There are so many world records nowadays that it is has become pretty difficult to take some of them seriously. However, this story of the breaking of a Guinness World Record is very much worth reading.

Mike Newman wanted to bring out the adventurous stand to his personality by driving towards an adrenaline rush at a great speed.

Newman stole the title of the fastest blind man to car travel. He piloted the Porsche at a record-breaking and pretty impressive 186 mph. Newman stole the title back having previously owned it from Metin Senturk, a Turkish pop singer. The singer made 182 mph back in April 2010 at GAP airport in Sanliurfa at 182 mph. He drove a Ferrari F430 to claim his triumph.

To get the best speed possible Mike Newman drove alone, devoid of passengers or assistance. He was however linked up to a radio that navigated him throughout the race. He endured several test runs until he got to his final aim, to beat the previous record holder.

The car that drove him to his achievement was the first of ten adapted track cars that were built by The Speed of Sight Foundation. These cars are fitted with twin steering wheels, dual controls, hand controls and a hoist to assist those who need help getting in and out of the vehicles. Newman said “other people should have the excitement that I have enjoyed today with the cars we are building.

The winner was helped in setting this record by the Speed of Sight foundation in Leicestershire. Speed experts used a laptop linked up to satellites to record the groundbreaking speediness. This victory has fed the 52-year-olds love for a challenge. He seeks to obtain the blind water speed record next.
