Aston Martin Celebrates Centenary with Stunning Concept Car

James Bond’s favourite brand of sports car, the Aston Martin, is marking its 100th anniversary this year. To celebrate, the iconic British company has built a one-off concept car that’s sure to get tongues wagging throughout the industry. Inspired by the legendary Aston Martin DBR1 race car of the 1950s, the CC100 Speedster Concept was designed to both celebrate the company’s past and look towards its future. That’s why it combines elements of the DBR1, such as its open-top body and ‘swan wing’ doors, with a six-litre V12 engine and a six-speed automated manual transmission. Capable of achieving 0-60 mph in 4 seconds and with a top speed capped at 180mph, the one-off vehicle made its debut in Germany last month. While the concept car isn’t likely to be hitting mass production soon, designers and company insiders say that many of its design features are indicative of where Aston Martin’s sports cars are headed in the future. These features include a new take on the shape of the traditional Aston Martin grille, and the distinct crease separating the front fenders from the hood. The concept car is also a long way away from other, more unrealistic, concept cars such as the Lamborghini Egoista meaning it offers a genuine insight into the shape of Aston Martins to come.
